Back to School shopping is getting underway and for those looking to purchase school supplies for their Middle and High School students - we recommend that on the first day of school, July 31st everyone come prepared with a basic set of supplies - pens, pencils, and paper. As students meet their teachers they will get specific information about notebooks, folders, binders, and other supplies needed for each class. It is likely you can save some money by waiting.
It is important to note - that Middle and High School students are not allowed to carry their backpacks or book bags throughout the building during the school day and must store these items in their lockers.
Elementary lists will be available with specific details for each grade/classroom.

The NM Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 160 requiring schools to adopt anti-distraction cell phone and electronics policies. This includes cell phones, earbuds, tablets, smartwatches, and other Bluetooth enabled communication devices.
What Parents & Students Need to Know -
- Students will not be allowed to use cell phones or any other personal communication device during the instructional day (7:55am-3:57pm) while on school grounds. This includes in the hallways, passing periods, lunch and recess.
-Devices must be put away all day.
The complete, revised and adopted cell phone policy for Hagerman Schools will be available prior to the start of school.
We appreciate your support as we work to create a learning environment free from distractions and focused on student success.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 31, 2025
Hagerman High School’s Grady Moss Elected State FFA District 5 President and State Vice President
HAGERMAN, NM – Grady Moss, a soon-to-be senior at Hagerman High School, has been elected to serve as District 5 President and State Vice President for the New Mexico FFA Association. This prestigious honor is a testament to Grady’s dedication, hard work, and passion for agriculture.
Grady’s journey in agriculture education began in the seventh grade, and he has been actively involved in the Hagerman FFA Chapter ever since. Currently serving as Chapter President, Grady has taken on leadership roles with enthusiasm and has been a driving force behind many chapter activities and events.
With a particular interest in livestock projects, Grady has focused on showing beef steer and market sheep, demonstrating his commitment to hands-on agricultural experiences. His passion for these projects has been matched by his leadership and mentorship within the chapter, where he has helped guide younger members and promote agricultural literacy.
In addition to his FFA leadership, Grady is also a well-rounded student and athlete. He participates in basketball and has been actively engaged in the broader school community, always striving to be a positive role model and community leader.
Grady’s accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of his family, including his parents, Shelby and Destry Moss. Their encouragement has played a crucial role in fostering his agricultural interests and supporting his efforts to lead by example.
Grady’s election to State Office places him in a unique position to advocate for FFA members across the region and to help guide the future of agricultural education in New Mexico. As District 5 President and State Vice President, he will have the opportunity to work alongside other student leaders, plan state-level events, and represent the voice of FFA members throughout the state.
Please join us in congratulating Grady Moss on this outstanding achievement and wishing him continued success in the year ahead. His leadership, dedication, and passion for agriculture serve as an inspiration to all.

There will be an Awards Assembly on Wednesday, 5/21 at 1:30 in the High School gym for secondary students - grades 6-7 and 9-11. This will be for class awards, 4th quarter Honor Rolls, etc. 8th grade awards will be presented at their promotion on Thursday, 5/22.

There was a threat to the Roswell Schools today, but the general threat reported in that area has now been lifted, and we want to assure you that Hagerman Municipal Schools were never under any direct threat.
As a precaution, we went into a Shelter in Place earlier today. That has now been lifted, and normal school operations have resumed.
