The Common Core State Standards will replace our current New Mexico Content Standards and Benchmarks over the next two years beginning with grades K-3 during the 2012-2013 school year, and continuing with grades 4-12 during 2013-2014. Emphasis will be on students acquiring a deeper understanding of critical concepts and applying that knowledge in both Mathematics and English.
