FFA Competition Updates

Six Hagerman FFA members attended the District V Public Speaking contest on February 17th in Artesia.  Adiel Clark, Jada Villa, Carlise Villa, and Capp Hoppes competed in the Employability Skills contest.   Lupe Muniz and Isaac Sanchez competed in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest.
21 students attended the Carrizozo contest on 2/29, we competed in 7 contest areas.
3 teams have qualified for state – meaning they met the State FFA requirement and our chapter requirements.   (Homesite, Wildlife and Horse)
2 additional teams are eligible for state based on their performance today, they will have to increase their scores to meet the chapter requirement.
Adiel Clark was 3rd high individual in Wildlife.  The team of Adiel, Dakota Grinder, Alik Clark and Andruw Clark was 6th overall.
Wyatt Armstrong was 3rd high individual in Homesite.  The team of Wyatt, Capp Hoppes (4th), Adiel Clark, and Rowdy Gray was 2nd overall.
The Horse Team were 5th and 14th.   We had 9 students competing in Horse, the top 4 students at the end of the season will go to State.
Food Science was 6th overall.
Floriculture teams placed 9th and 11th.
Milk Quality placed 11th.
Horticulture Produce placed 17th.
